The Augusta Area Dietetic Internship (AADI) mission statement is:
The Augusta Area Dietetic Internship is committed to further educate dietetic program graduates through supervised experiences where the student's theoretical knowledge can be translated into application. This comprehensive program will provide the best learning opportunities possible for students to gain additional skills, knowledge, and abilities that will prepare them as competent entry-level practitioners.
Goals of AADI
Goal 1: To prepare generalist dietitians who meet the CADE core competencies for entry-level practice in management, clinical nutrition and community nutrition.
90% or higher pass rate on the RD exam for first time testing
95% completion rate or higher for the program
85% or more graduates will work in the area of dietetics or related healthcare field
Goal 2: To train dietetic interns to become entry level dietitians and function as members of the healthcare team in acute, outpatient, long term and community healthcare.
Graduates employed in acute, outpatient, long term and community healthcare will be able to apply the principles of nutrition in growth, restoration of health, maintenance of health and health promotion to their work setting.
Employers of AADI graduates working in these areas will indicate satisfaction with the graduate's training.
Goal 3: To train dietetic interns to become entry-level dietitians to function as members of the management team in a variety of settings
Graduates employed in food service management, school nutrition programs, long term care food management or other settings with managerial responsibilities will be able to apply principles of food subsystems resource management in their work setting.
Employers of AADI graduates working in these areas will indicate satisfaction with the graduate's training.
Goal 4: To provide the dietetic intern with opportunities to develop his or her potential and to stimulate professional and personal growth.
Interns will be able to identify a variety of alternate or non-traditional dietetics career paths.
Interns will be able to identify specialty areas for advanced practice.
Goal 5: To instill in the AADI graduates a commitment to take a leadership role in the dietetic profession and/or in other service based organizations in their communities.
Graduates will demonstrate an active role in the dietetic profession and/or other healthcare professions by becoming leaders on a local, state or national level.
Graduates will demonstrate an active role in their communities by volunteering with faith-based organizations, social services and/or other humanitarian efforts.
